The sun was starting to rise by the time I closed the final book. I never thought I’d find myself in this current position, I love a good fantasy story, but I never really had much interest in HP. I initially started reading them so I could relate to the girlfriend, as she’s a huge fan and grew up with the books, but I didn’t think I would ravenously steam roll through all seven books. Not only did I blow through them, but I was sitting in the morning hours craving an eighth novel.
So many unanswered questions, so many unexplored and unresolved characters. What happens afterward!? What happens in the between time!? What happens to my crush Luna Lovegood! I need more! MORE!!!
The books on a whole were good, I wasn’t too keen on Rowlings writing style at first but the universe in which she placed me in more than made up for it. I would have liked if she expanded more on certain topics and important plot points a little further. I don’t need complete exposition, but I really think she could have made the books a lot stronger with a little more. Things seemed a bit rushed, especially the Snape chapter in the final book. Rather than short and sweet, it left me with more questions than it answered.
I’m assuming she left so many things unfinished at the end so readers could be left in a state of wonder and enchantment, but ugh, I really wanted a bit more! I definitely think she should do an eighth book. “Harry Potter 8: Beyond The Veil” or a series of books from the same time but from a different house. Deathly Hallows from a Ravenclaw perspective, or Slytherin. So many possibilities!
Overall, I enjoyed the books.
Now to watch the movies…
Read the Harry Potter novels. Done!

Yeahhh so I hear sadly enough. I just finished the first one and it was pretty damn bad. But! It was also the first so I can understand them not having the huge financial backing for all the pretty things. Hoping they evolve as the books did!
